Mediation - A Proposal-focused Approach
Bennett Family Law offers mediation services. Deborah is trained in the “New Ways for Mediation℠ Approach: A Breakthrough Proposal-focused Approach” (developed by the High Conflict Institute, San Diego, California). Within this approach, you will focus on:
signing your agreement to mediate
making your agenda
making your proposals
finalizing your agreements.
For information about this innovative approach see: New Ways for Mediation: Explaining the Method Step-by-Step by Bill Eddy, LCSW, ESQ.
Property Disputes and Financial Health
Whether your dispute is simple or complex, this is an ideal time to ensure your financial and estate planning is up to date and adjusted to your new circumstances. We will ensure you have comprehensive checklists to keep your planning in order.
When mediating complex property disputes, the key is getting the correct values “on the table” so the calculations may be completed and informed proposals may be exchanged. We will work with you to identify any professionals needed for this process, whether actuaries, appraisers, accountants, or financial advisors.

Parenting Classes
Bennett Family Law also provides coaching with the New Ways for Families Online Class. “New Ways for Families® Online is an online parenting course for parents who are separated, divorcing, and even those who share a child but never shared a relationship. This unique and innovative 12-session course focuses heavily on the 4 Big Skills most needed by potentially high-conflict or already high-conflict parents, but it is also effective for parents who are not high-conflict.”
The 4 Big Skills are: (1) flexible thinking; (2) managed emotions; (3) moderate behaviours; and (4) checking yourself. “This course is presented in a positive, “no blame, no shame” context and focuses on skills for successful future co-parenting rather than focusing on bad past behavior. “ View the New Ways for Families Podcast, Episode 133, June 2, 2022.
